Dear Beasley Family,
What a wonderful fall we have been having...I can’t remember the last time the fall colors were this pretty. With the change of the seasons, we are embracing the change of our nation with our past election. I wanted to thank you personally for your support for our schools, and I am especially thankful this season for families like you who truly support public education.
This month, we are learning about the word RESPECT. Such a simple word we all tend to use, but it has so many meanings for each of us. This month, I am asking all of our staff and student body to consider ways to demonstrate RESPECT. As a family, I encourage you to discuss the ways RESPECT is modeled within your home.
As our Beasley family is thinking about ways to show RESPECT, I am asking each of us to consider a talent we have been given, and to consider a way to GIVE IT BACK. By sharing our talents and blessings, it is a great way to demonstrate RESPECT for others around us. One example could be a student who has the love and talent of reading. In having that student share their talent with a younger peer or younger sibling by reading to them a special story would be one way that we model RESPECT to individuals around us.
All of us have a talent. Some of us are lucky to have more than one! As a family, begin to think of ways that your individual talent could impact someone within your community. As we begin to GIVE IT BACK at Beasley in the month of November, I encourage you to think of something you may contribute. We are always looking for ways to include our families with school, and we encourage you to give us a call and let us know if you have a special talent you would be willing to share with our school community.
Thank you for your continued support,
Melody A. Gunn

Calling All Volunteers
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS
Volunteering Opportunities for 2008/2009 school year
There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the year that allow you to get involved in your child’s school. You can volunteer at class parties or give ideas and time to our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or to chair a booth at the all school Fall Festival. There are also regular weekly volunteer opportunities for those who have the time. Three of our regular opportunities are:
Wednesday Envelopes: Every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, volunteers collate school news and notes and place the papers in envelopes that go home with our children on Wednesday afternoons. The task takes about 1.5 hours each of the two days. The more volunteers we have, however, the quicker it goes. For more information, contact our newest secretary, Carolyn Garcia at 467-5412.
Publishing Center: Teachers place their orders in a file folder in the school office. Projects may include cutting out 40 elf hats, laminating a child’s artwork or sorting pages in a child’s school-year scrapbook. You can come in any day of the school week and any time during the school day to go through the file folder to see what needs to be done. You can work as little or as much as you want.
School Library; Tuesday and Thursday we have library time for all of our students. Our new Librarian, Rachel Williams, needs parents to help shelf books, check-out books, and help our students pick a library book. If this interests you, please call today! 467-5400.
